I never thought I'd actually like running. I was the girl who did hung-over Turkey Trots. Exclusively. Well okay--you caught me--I still do hung-over Turkey Trots (no comment on the picture below), but I now run a lot more in between the awful 3.1 miles that I put myself through annually.Read More
After running the Lighthouse Run 10-miler in June, I started challenging myself with longer weekly runs and was surprised to find that my body was responding well. Then, earlier this month, I ran the Hot Chocolate 15K in Chicago to get another mid-distance run under my belt. Running-wise, this was a great race for me. Upon crossing the finish line, I felt capable of running further and a half marathon seemed within reach.Read More
How are we here already?! Yesterday kicked off the holiday season, and I thought I'd do the same in my little corner of the Internet. In the spirit of being appreciative, I've listed some of my blessings below. And* for these blessings, I give thanks.Read More
Fact: I am not a runner. I have crap knees from the yester-years of gymnastics, and I'm fairly certain that I look like a dying hippo when I run. Somehow, God had mercy on my soul and helped me finish my first 10-mile race. Originally the goal was just to finish a 10k, but when the opportunity to run the 10-mile presented itself, I...errr...ran with it. This was one smelly post-race pic!Read More
The Lighthouse Run is a week from Saturday, and I feel ready! I've continued with most of the virtual runs with my pal in Milwaukee; however, I've met a recent road block in my training in having to deal with a recent health issue. But that's not very fun to talk about. Preparing for crossing the finish line on Saturday is. So onward!Read More
Life's been coming at me fast, so it's been hard to find time to post. I have lots of great updates, though, and I promise that they're on the way! But first, let's talk running. So far, weekend virtual runs have been great motivator. I suggested them to my running buddy, Joelfel, as a way to train together for June's 10-miler even though we live in different cities. As the week comes to an end, we decide on a distance and promise that--sometime over the course of the weekend--we'll run the distance and send "evidence" to the other person (i.e. log it on MapMyRun or take a picture of our treadmill screen).Read More
This morning, I registered for the Racine 10 mile Lighthouse Run. Technically, this is isn't a 10K (my bucket list item is to run a 10K), but since it's longer distance at 10 miles, I'm counting it.
Currently, I can't run 6 consequtive miles. This may or may not be a bad idea.
I'm going with may.Read More
