Cane & Ebel...and Caine.

Upon turning 24, I added a new bucket list item:  attend a wacky festival.  Enter Hop Juice Festival, stage right.  It may not exactly qualify as wacky (festivals celebrating beer are legit), but it is definitely unique! Two Brothers Brewing Company--a local brewery based in Warrenville, IL--sponsors this event every year to coincide with it's release of two seasonal beers, Hop Juice IPA and Hop Juice Black.

The festival was centered around beer (obvi) and music, with performances by both The Right Now and the Jayhawks.  Quick side note: as we were walking into the festival, The Right Now was playing a cover of R. Kelly's "Ignition".  Now, I'm not saying that I totally jammed out to this song in middle school and thought I was the shiz.  But I'm also not saying I didn't ;)

We grabbed some food/beer tickets, met up with some friends, and set out to work our way down the beer they had on tap.  I tried a Hop Juice, a Cane & Ebel, but my favorite was the Red Eye Coffee Porter.  Coffee & Beer?!?! It's two of my favorite poisons ;)  I think I'm going to start hoarding the stuff...it is THAT good.

Coincidentally, the day started out with another Caine, but this one owns and operates a newly famous cardboard arcade.  John had shown me the video before we set out for Hop Juice Fest, and as soon as I saw that little boy camped out on his lawn chair with a if you build it, they will come look on his face, I had this incredible urge to trek out to his arcade.

Instead of impulsively buying an airplane ticket to East LA, I settled for sneaking jealous glances of John's recent purchase.  You can check out ways to donate to Caine's college fund by clicking here.

Between the Cane & Ebel, and being inspired by Caine's Arcade, I'm one happy girl :)
