Adam spent a summer in Yellowstone National Park in the summer of 2009. I went to visit him at the beginning of August, and we spent a week hiking and sightseeing. I hiked over 50 miles in 5 days, something that made me extremely proud :) Here's a tour of some of my favorite places in the park.
The top of Mount Washburn. The hike up here is a relatively easy one and the path is well traveled.
The path around the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. There is not one bad view along this trail!
Ojo Caliente Springs - don't get too close to this one! We were able to swim nearby, though, where a cold river combined with the hot water from the springs.
Old Faithful...Can't leave him out!
Seven Mile Hole Trail. It's 5 miles down, but it feels like 7 miles back...
Mammoth Hot Springs. Hot spring water is flowing directly into the Gardiner river, creating little hot tubs that are the best kept secret of Yellowstone. You will not find this in the park brochure.
Observation Peak Trail. I had perfect timing for this one, because the snow had just melted (in August!) and the wild flowers were just barely beginning to die out but still were in top form.
Uncle Tom's Trail. The 350 steps in a half a mile is well worth the effort in order to see the falls up close and personal....stunning!
And one more state to the map. I'm getting close (...kinda...)
